8/04/2009 - Upcoming dates

Sunday 12th April is EASTER so there will be no training then on Sunday 19th April we will be training from 10.30 at Kelso.
On Friday 24th April the bus will leave for the Ayr Tour at 17.00 hrs from Kelso High School.

30/03/2009 - P6 win at Selkirk

Congratulations to Kelso P6 team that took the title at Selkirk with some very exciting rugby and well worked tries. Last chance for the Ayr Tour, if you still want to go you need to download, complete and return the consent form to Dougie Wood asap please.

23/03/2009 - Selkirk Tournament travel

On Sunday 29th March the bus leaves Kelso High School at 9.45am for the Selkirk Tournament with KO at 11am. Anyone still wanting to go on tour to Ayr should hand their forms and cheques in ASAP please.

18/03/2009 - Easter Eggs needed!

Pauline Thomson has kindly volunteered to run an Easter Egg Tombola fundraiser at the Kelso Tournament this weekend. Parents are asked to contribute Easter Eggs of any size to help with the money raising effort and so help keep subs and tour costs low and bus trips to games free.

12/03/2009 - Kelso Tournament

On Sunday 22nd March all mums are asked to help out on Tournament day. We are catering for 350+ boys so all hands on deck will be needed, KO is 11am.

5/03/2009 - Melrose Tournament

On Sunday 8th March the bus leaves for the Melrose Tournament from KHS at 10am for an 11am KO. Ayr Tour consent forms must be completed and submitted urgently to Dougie Wood or Wullie Mallen by 8th March. The consent form can be downloaded here. Coming up is coaching on 15th March followed by the Kelso Tournament on 22nd March where we will need the support of parents to help out with teas.

5/03/2009 - Gala Memorial Sevens (P7 only)

This is on Saturday 7th March for P7's only at Gala with a 12noon KO. Transport leaves Kelso High School car park at 11am.

22/02/2009 - Ayr Tour Disclosure

Any parent needing to get the Disclosure process done for the Ayr Tour can meet Caroline Stewart from 11.30am on Sunday 1st March at the Clubrooms upstairs. Requirements are to bring originals and, if possible, photocopies of the following documents:-
Passport/driving Licence
Birth Certificate
Recent utility bill
All players that want to go on tour to Ayr must complete a consent form and return to Dougie Wood or any coach as soon as possible. Cost is £25 for kids and £30 for adults and cash/cheques must be submitted along with the consent form which can be downloaded here.

14/02/2009 - Jed games off - Berwick details

The games against Jed on Sunday 15th Feb are off, coaching will replace if weather permits, check out Radio Borders on Sunday morning for info.
On Sunday 22nd Feb we have games at Berwick, KO 11am P1,2,3,4,5,6,7`s against Berwick and Gala, bus leaves Kelso High School at 10am.

3/02/2009 - Ayr Tour - Player Consent Forms

All players that want to go on tour to Ayr must complete a consent form and return to Dougie Wood or any coach by 22nd February 2009. Cost is £25 for kids and £30 for adults and cash/cheques must be submitted along with the consent form which can be downloaded here. Any adult wanting to go on Tour must have completed the disclosure process, details and requirements are on page 2 of the consent form. Note this process can take up to three months so you need to start now!

3/2/2009 - More program changes

Coaching on 15th Feb has been replaced with games against Jed, Penicuik and possibly Berwick. The games will be at Jed with the bus leaving Kelso High School at 10:15am sharp for an 11am kick-off. Gala have had to reschedule their Tournament to the same time as the Ayr Tour so we can't go. The Gala 19th April slot will now be coaching.

1/2/2009 - Program Changes

On Sunday 29th March we now have the Selkirk Tournament KO 11am and on Saturday 7th March it's the Gala Memorial Sevens for P7`s only, KO 12.00 am.
The last few tickets for Scotland v Wales are available from Dougie Wood on 07970 009371.

26/1/2009 - Scotland v Wales - Sunday 8th Feb

The bus leaves Kelso High School at 11:45am sharp and will return around 6:30pm for Scotland v Wales at Murrayfield. Some tickets priced £18 are still available, you can download and print the form here and hand in to any coach by Sunday 1st Feb. Come along and cheer on our ex-Cougar Ross Ford.

26/1/2009 - Jed, Melrose and Stew Mel games

On Sun 1st Feb we play games against Jed, Melrose and Stew Mel at home with an 11am KO, come early! Parents, please bring food according to the Tuck 'n' Teas page for your players age group. These games are dependant on weather and pitch conditions, Radio Borders give the latest info on Mini Rugby at about 5 past the hour on Sunday mornings.

17/1/2009 - Games on 18th Jan cancelled

The games with Berwick, Gala, Selkirk and Duns due to be played on Sun 18th Jan have been cancelled due to a severve weather warning from the Met Office. Next rugby will be coaching on 25th Jan as normal.

17/1/2009 - Race Night and Scotland v Wales

The annual Race Night will be on 21st Feb and promises to be a fun filled night as usual. Tickets are priced £7.50 with Cheese and Wine provided at the table to warm you up for a disco after the races. We hope parents and friends can support this event... it really is not to be missed!

Slips for the Scotland v Wales international at Murrayfield on 8th Feb have been handed out to players at coaching last week. Tickets are £18 (including Bus) on a first come first served basis, hand slips in to any coach.

8/1/2009 - New Tuck n Teas rota

The new rota is now available on the Tuck 'n' Teas page. At the end of the season Caroline Brown will be leaving as Tuck convenor after two years of sterling service, so we are now looking for a volunteer to take up the reins.

8/1/2009 - First training of 2009

On Sunday 11th January it's coaching at Poynder Park at 10.30am, warm weather gear essential! Then, on Sunday 18th January, we have Berwick, Gala, Selkirk and Duns coming to play at home, weather permitting.
Remember to hand in any remaining bike ride sponsor money to Willie Mallen. On Sunday Feb 8th it's Scotland v Wales at Murrayfield at £18 per ticket including travel on bus, further details nearer the time.

13/12/2008 - Somerfield Bag Packing Rota

Once again Somerfield Supermarket, Roxburgh Street, Kelso, have kindly allowed the Mini Rugby P6 & P7 players to assist the store in packing customers bags at the checkout on the days leading up to both Xmas & Hogmany. In return for this service the players usually receive generous tips, all of which are collected to raise funds for the Tour to Ayr in April 2009. Attached here is a rota for the players. As you will see the players will do up to 3 stints of up to 4 hours overall.

Training will be indoors in the games hall at Kelso High School prior to the Xmas party, please bring trainers for indoor use.

2/12/2008 - Xmas Party Time

The Xmas party will be on Sunday 14th December after training from 12noon to 2pm in the Clubrooms. Please see attached file here for food requests and helper arrangements. All parents are expected to help out to make the party run smoothly and, most importantly, ensure a fun day for the kids.

2/12/2008 - Langholm at Kelso

On Sunday 7th Dec Langholm P4-7 will be playing against Kelso at home, KO 11am. Unfortunately Peebles will not be coming so it will be a short game session. Please bring waterproofs to keep out the chill.

As it's a home game, could parents please provide the following food

25/11/2008 - Berwick Travel

On Sunday 30th November we have games at Berwick, also with Duns and Jed. The bus leaves Kelso High School at 9.45am for an 11am KO. Please remember to bring waterproofs and warm clothes as it can be very chilly there.

3/11/2008 - Sponsored cycle ride and Melrose game

The sponsored bike ride took place on Saturday with only a couple of incidents. A big well done to all the boys, girls, Mums, Dads and coaches/support crew who took part. Thankfully the weather was kind and a big thank-you to Floors Castle for allowing us access to the fabulous grounds. Can everyone get their sponsor sheets and sponsor money collected as soon as possible and handed in to either Willie Mallen or Dougie Wood.

On Sunday 16th November we have games at Melrose. The bus leaves Kelso High School at 9.45am prompt with only P4/5, P6 and P7 teams involved. P1, P2 and P3 will train as normal at Poynder Park at 10.30 am. Please remember to bring along waterproofs and tracksuits to keep warm between games.

25/10/2008 - Sponsored cycle ride - postponed

The sponsored cycle ride has been postponed due due high winds. It will now take place on Sat 1st November meeting at 10am in Kelso Square.

19/10/2008 - Jed Tournament

On Sunday 26th October it's the Jed Tournament, always a big occasion. The bus leaves Kelso High School at 9:45am and be sure to bring tracksuits and warm clothes for between matches.
The Tuck Shop rota has been updated and lets parents know who's on duty and what to bring for home matches.

15/10/2008 - Sponsored cycle ride

The annual fund raising sponsored bike ride will take place on Saturday 25th October 2008. Meet in Kelso Square at 10am to set off for Floors at 10.30am and returning to the rugby club at approximately 12.15pm. The cyclist who raises the most amount of money will win a rugby shirt of their choice from Kelso Rugby Club Shop.

1/10/2008 - Stew Mel Travel and Sponsored Cycle

On Sunday 5th October the bus leaves Kelso High School 10am sharp, KO is at 12noon. Please bring waterproofs/warm clothes on the day. We aim to return to KHS about 5pm but for updates on the day contact Willie Mallen on 07977891048.
The Sponsored Bike Ride to Floors is on Saturday 25th October and we need all players to raise as many sponsors as possible for our 2009 Tour. Details and downloadable sponsor forms will be available soon.

29/9/2008 - Penicuik Tournament Review

On an unusually sunny afternoon in Penicuik, Kelso narrowly missed out on Team of the Tournament having held that title for the last three years. Portobello took the overall honours this year, Kelso P6 were age group winners with P3 and P7 runners-up. Unfortunately we had to combine P4 and P5 teams due to lack of numbers so if you know anyone in these age groups please encourage them to come along.

On Sunday 5th October it's the Stewart's Melville Lions tournament with a 12noon kick-off at Inverlieth in Edinburgh.

22/9/2008 - Penicuik Tournament

On Sunday 28th September it's the Penicuik Rugby Tournament for P3-P7. The Bus leaves Kelso High School at 9.30 am. Please bring wet weather gear as it's a long day and it can rain! We will be playing Penicuik/Dalkeith/Lasswade/Peebles/Portobello and we expect to return late afternoon around 16.30-17.00. Phone Dougie Wood for an update 07970 009371.
Players must be registered and paid up to play or they are not insured.

3/9/2008 - Gum Shields and Parents Meeting

Gumshields fitting will take place on Thurs 11th September at the Kelso Clubrooms from 18.30 onwards. Cost is £17.50, payable on the night. It is an SRFU requirement and common sense to play with a gumshield to avoid teeth and gum damage.
A meeting for parents will be held after training at 12noon on the 14th Sept in the Clubrooms.

25/8/2008 - New Season Registration Forms

Player registration forms can be dowloaded here. Fees remain the same as last year at £20 and this covers club expenses, travel and insurance. It's important also to ensure medical details are known for the safety of players.
P7's went down fighting 2-1 against Jed at Kelso Seven's.

4/08/2008 - Kelso Sevens - 16 Aug 2008

P7s will be playing Jed in their annual fixture before the Sevens final, come down and give them some early season support. Coaches will contact the players involved directly and organise some pre-sevens training sessions.

4/08/2008 - New Season Starts - 7th Sept 2008

Training for next season will resume on Sunday 7th September 2008, 10:30am to 12noon at Poynder Park. All kids are welcome and we encourage them to bring along any pals that may be interested in having a go. Player registration forms will be avaiable on the day and coaches will be on hand to provide information and answers to any questions.
